The Monarch Hotel, a luxurious boutique hotel in Rosebank and a heritage site, will be going under the hammer on September 28 in Sandton.

The 5 star hotel has already attracted interest from various local and international investors.

The property was originally the Saxonwold Post Office during the 1930’s. The façade of the building has remained, and the inside transformed into an exclusive five star boutique hotel.

Refurbishment of the premises was completed in 2009. The presidential suite of the hotel was host to the Ghanaian president during the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

“The recent opening of the Gautrain Station in Rosebank has caused an acceleration of activity within the ever-expanding Rosebank precinct, and investor demand for property in the area is at an all time high”, says Warren Aronson of Auction Alliance.

The property is situated at 167 Oxford Road, and occupies a prominent, high exposure location within the Rosebank precinct, opposite the main entrance to the Gautrain Rosebank Station.

The surrounding area is characterised by numerous retail and business developments, including the Zone, The Firs, The Hyatt Hotel and Oxford Corner.

The double storey property features premium finishes and extends over a GLA of 3421m². The ground floor offers a reception area and lobby, seven suites, dining room, public ablutions, well equipped kitchen, cigar room and board room. The first floor includes 5 suites as well as office space.

“Occupying one of the area’s most prominent locations, this historic property presents investors with a unique opportunity that is not to be missed.

The property can either be retained as a boutique hotel, or converted into luxury office accommodation”, adds Aronson.

The auction takes place at 12pm on September 28 at the Hilton Hotel, 138 Rivonia Road, Sandton. For more information, contact Warren Aronson on Tel: 082 529 1020 or Email: waronson@auction.co.za
