New Boss for Nedbank’s Commercial Property Finance business

Nedbank announced the appointment of Robin Lockhart-Ross as the new Managing Executive of Nedbank Corporate Property Finance (NCPF), the bank said on Tuesday in a statement.

Robin replaces Frank Berkeley, who took early retirement in August.

With more than 25 years in commercial property, Robin has played a key role as a senior member of the Nedbank Corporate Property Finance business, serving in a variety of senior roles in risk management within the division. 

Prior to his appointment, he was Head of Risk NCPF, a position he has occupied since 2003.

“I am honoured to assume this position, particularly during these interesting times in the commercial property market where we are witnessing many changes,” says Lockhart-Ross.

“I am committed to enhancing the success of Nedbank Corporate Property Finance as market leader in commercial property financing and to providing consistent and agile solutions for the market.”

Prior to this, Robin was Head of Risk at BoE Corporate: Property and Asset Finance and Managing Executive of NBS Homeloans in 2001 and 2002.  He joined BoE from Moreland Estates and Developments, the property arm of the Tongaat-Hulett Group, where he was the Financial Director from 1992 to 1999. He was the Tax Consultant of the Tongaat-Hulett Group from 1989 to 1991. Before joining the Tongaat-Hulett Group, Robin was a Senior Tax Officer for the SA Revenue Service and a Tax Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Cape Town.

Robin obtained his B Com (cum laude) at the University of Natal in 1978, and holds further qualifications in a Higher Diploma in Accounting, B Com Hons (Tax) and M Acc (Tax). In addition to his responsibilities at Property Finance, Robin was the Chairman of Bond Choice (Pty) Ltd and a non-executive director in investee companies of Nedbank. He is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Kearsney College, and a member of the Income Tax Special Court at SARS.
