Botswana’s property returns drop in 2014

Botswana’s investment property sector appears to be weakening, with the latest data from New York Stock Exchange-listed MSCI Incorporated, showing that capital valuations have softened.

After a strong run in 2013, Botswana property returns delivered an ungeared total return of 11.5% in 2014 - down from 21.5% in 2013, the latest IPD Botswana Annual Property Consultative Index released by MSCI Inc has asserted.

Stan Garrun, Head of South African Real Estate, MSCI said the figures show that the falls in total return are being seen across the board, with all of the main sectors experiencing a similar drop in the region of 1000 bps.
